Back-up Vocal~ At last, we reach the point where the band’s music gets a review. This was another one of those scripts I’ve had in bits and pieces for about 3 or 4 years. I must admit, the William Blake reference even caught me off guard when it first presented itself. I am a big fan of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. They did an extraordinary job of taking Classical music pieces and turning them into Rock music. I was surprised to learn that William Blake wrote the poem, which became the lyrics for the Hymn “Jerusalem“. While I am not well versed in his work, I have always loved the song. Especially how ELP performed it.
Manny marches to his own drummer, who of course is Soxx. And I love Manny’s talent for misinterpretation of lyrics, ideologies and even words. Here, we see it in full swing. True and proper meaning, sacrificed for achievement of personal vision.
