Back-up Vocal~ Max Roach was an Old School Pioneer in the world of Jazz drumming.
One of the greatest drummers who ever lived. Any drummer worth their salt will tell you that.
I never got to meet him personally, but I had the privilege of going to high school with his daughters.
One of them was a friend of mine and she is truly a Top Flight, Classy gal. Years ago, upon her graduation
a year before me, she wrote some things to me in my year book that were not only moving, but even a bit surprising. I am a geek and the first one to admit it. I was always a bit of an outsider in high school
and never fit in with the crowd. So, I was rather taken aback to learn that I had such a positive impact on her.
That always stuck with me.
So, this here comic strip is a send-up to Mr. Roach, and a warm fuzzy, East Coast shout-out to her.
Just my way of saying “Hey, you’re a super cool lady, and I never forgot you!”
