Back-up Vocal~ In the world of guitars, we find a critical piece of gear that’s very often the lifeblood of a signal chain for a player. They go a by few names, such as “sound pedal” or “stomp box”. No matter what you call them, they are designed to add an extra push. They can provide boost, clarity or even punctuation to sound. Most players use them at some point or another. Some may just experiment, while others develop an obsession with these gadgets and embark on a life long journey to find just the right sonic mixture between them. There are entire youtube videos devoted to building the perfect pedal board. In thinking of the new round of “Zoop Magazine” ads, I thought I would explore this particular realm for a moment or two.
Finally, I recently watched a documentary about the making of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” album. It included an interview segment with backup singer, Venetta Fields. After learning about all that she really brought to the album, I thought a Shout-Out was in order.
